Join us for our first ever Virtual Author Event!
Karina will be joining us for a 45-minute session that will begin with a 20-25 minute presentation on the writing process, using The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street as an example, and will discuss writer’s notebooks, brainstorming, outlining and planning, research, drafting, revision, and the publishing process. Then, kids will have 20-25 minutes to ask Karina as many questions as possible!
This event is open to all patrons of Washington State libraries, with a focus on libraries in Skagit County, who are eligible to participate in a special giveaway. This event is also open to students and teachers who live in Skagit County.

Winners will be randomly selected and then verified to make sure that they are a patron of their home library. Students of local school districts who are not or their parents are not patrons of the library are not eligible to enter, sorry!

Karina Yan Glaser grew up in Illinois and California, and when she was young her favorite place in the whole entire world was New York City. She ended up going to college in New York City and never moved away. She now lives in Harlem with her husband, two daughters, and an assortment of rescue animals.
Karina started writing The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street when her uncle dared her to write a book. Now she is a New York Times bestselling author; her books include The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street, The Vanderbeekers and the Hidden Garden, and The Vanderbeekers to the Rescue. The fourth book in the series, The Vanderbeekers Lost and Found, will come out on September 15, 2020.
Karina’s books have been translated into twelve languages and have been optioned for film by Amy Poehler (a comedian, actress, and producer). She is also a contributing editor for Book Riot.
