Skagit Kids Read Week 2022 starts on May 15th!

Skagit Kids Read Week 2022 is May 15th - 21st!

Skagit Kids Read Week is an annual celebration of literature marked by community readings, events and activities.

The Skagit County Commissioners make a formal proclamation declaring the week as ‘Skagit Kids Read Week’, a featured author is selected and their works become the central theme of the week. Join us in promoting literacy and the joy of reading!

This year our featured authors are Ciara and Russell Wilson who wrote “Why Not You?”, a picture book that inspires young readers to see the value in themselves, be brave and go after their biggest dreams!

Community members will be reading this book at local schools and also providing school libraries with a copy of the book. The main event to celebrate Skagit Kids Read Week will be held at the Children’s Museum of Skagit County on Saturday, May 21st. Join us to celebrate with an outdoor party in the parking lot of the Children’s Museum (weather permitting) for these fun & exciting activities:

  • Bilingual Book Readings
  • Central Skagit Library Bookmobile
  • Paper Clip Bookmarks
  • Art with Katie Walton
