The Upper Skagit Library is seeking an experienced, visionary, and community-centered leader to serve as our next Library Director.
This is an exciting opportunity to guide a beloved rural library that plays a vital role in empowering our community by creating opportunities, fostering connections, and providing resources while committing to the highest standards of librarianship.
About the Role
The Library Director serves as the chief administrator of the Upper Skagit Library, providing leadership in developing and implementing the Library’s vision, goals, policies, and services.
The Director reports directly to the Library Board of Trustees and is responsible for ensuring operational excellence, financial stewardship, strategic growth, and community engagement.
This position oversees all areas of library operations, including:
- Strategic planning and Board support
- Human Resources and staff leadership
- Facilities management
- Financial oversight and budgeting
- Information Technology and innovation
- Community partnerships and public engagement

Required Qualifications
- Master’s in Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited institution or commitment to complete an MLS within 3 years of hire
- 5+ years of experience in library management and administration (or equivalent responsibility)
- 3+ years of supervisory and/or business management experience
Salary & Benefits
- $80,000–$90,000 per year, depending on experience
- Full-time, salaried, overtime-exempt position
- Paid health insurance

- Retirement through Washington DRS
