Hear ye, hear ye, brave adventurers!

This summer, glorious quests await in the lands of the Upper Skagit Library, so gather your supplies and don your armor because there are dragons to slay – or befriend!

Using mystical tomes and battle-tested tools, create guilds with beloved party members and new adventurers alike throughout July and August – you’ll need these allies for crusades guided by the mysterious Library Keepers, who just might reward your good deeds with loot!

Whether you’re an experienced dungeon-crawler or new to the role of warrior or mage, there’s a daring quest for every hero so keep your eyes on the skies (or in dusty barrels) for scrolls that the Library Keepers will use to communicate information about the challenges you seek.

Ready to roll the dice and see what they have in store for you?

How does SRP work?

Our Summer Reading Program is open and free for everyone, so join us this summer as we embark upon epic quests!

Step one of the Summer Reading Program is to register using the form on our website. This lets us know how many people are participating, which helps us prepare our supplies!

Our Summer Reading Program is made up of many different activities including programs and special events/activities, crafts, Storytimes, and reading challenges. Participation in the program will give you the opportunity to win prizes! The more you participate the more you can potentially win!

New this year is our Loot Quest!

Each time teen and adult adventurers use an in-building library service (checking out items, attending programs, using the computer lab, hanging out in the building, getting food from the Freedge) they can ask a Library Keeper for a stamp!

Collect 10 stamps and a Library Keeper will bestow an exclusive pin upon you AND conjure a raffle ticket in your name for our grand prize loot!

A couple things to keep in mind:

  • one stamp per day!
  • each Loot Card (10 stamps) is worth one raffle ticket; got all ten of your stamps? Get another Loot Card and go out on another quest!
  • don’t be surprised if the Library Keepers make a note on their scrolls every time you get a stamp – its to help them stay organized!

Activities & Events

As always, activities and events are subject to change at a moment’s notice!

To stay up to date on dates, times, locations, etc., keep an eye on our website, email newsletter, social media, or sign-up for our SMS Advertising Service.

Find Your Adventure at Silo Park during
Concrete Youth Activity Day on July 18th!

We will have a booth at Silo Park where all the fun will be and we’ll have a photo booth (with props!) and will be taking Polaroid photos, sharing info about SRP, and signing folks up for cards. We might even have loot and crafts! Who knows what the dice decide?!

This year we will have two Silly Saturdays – one on July 31st and one on August 31st!

Drop-into the library during open hours for challenging trivia questions and prizes throughout the day.

At 2m on both days, join us for a Trivia Battle for larger loot! Make sure your battle armor can get wet!

This year Silly Saturday is for all, though we may separate the Trivia Battles based on adventuring experience (age).

Mess Makers is every Wednesday in July from 2-3pm!

Welcome adventurers! Join us for an epic quest! Character sheets, dice, and more provided by the library. All players must sign a player contract, agreeing to following the rules of the game. Must be 13-18 years old to join.  Please see our website AND contact the teen librarian if you are interested in joining, but please be aware you may not be able to join right away as everything depends on the amount of players we have and where the stories in the game are at.

July 5th & 18th

August 2nd & 16th

Join the adventure! This after-hours D&D group is for those 18+ only. Character sheets and dice provided by the library. You don’t need to know anything to join us – we’ll teach you how to play!

Thank you so much to the organizations that help make SRP possible through funding, volunteering, and other forms of support!

This year we want to give huge shoutouts to the Upper Skagit Library Friends, Puget Sound Energy, and 5b’s Bakery
