The Freedge is Here!

The Freedge is more than just a refrigerator; it’s a movement towards sustainability and compassion within our community. As of December 15, 2023, we’re excited to announce the soft opening of our Freedge! Located in our main area, next to the coffee bar, this communal refrigerator is a place where anyone can access free, fresh food, no questions asked. It’s also a haven for local businesses and individuals to donate surplus food, significantly contributing to reducing food waste and alleviating hunger in our community.

How Can You Participate?

  • Donating: If you’re a local business or individual with surplus food, consider donating to the Freedge. Your generous contributions can directly alleviate hunger and support those in need in our community.
  • Volunteering: We’re actively seeking volunteers to help manage and maintain the Freedge. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to give back and get involved in a meaningful community-wide effort.
  • Spreading the Word: Raising awareness is crucial. We encourage you to share information about the Freedge with your friends, family, and network. Your efforts in spreading the word can help us reach more people in need.

Get Involved

If you are interested in donating your time or food to the Freedge, we would love to hear from you! Please feel free to contact us at 360-853-7716 or email us at [email protected]. Your involvement is vital to the success of this project, and we appreciate any support you can offer.

Our Vision and Commitment

Our goal is straightforward – to ensure that no one in our area goes hungry and that everyone knows the library is here to offer support. The Freedge is a significant step towards making this vision a reality. It represents our commitment to building a community where everyone has access to the food they need and can feel comfortable seeking help when necessary. Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all.
