The Check Out Washington program allows library card holders to check out free Discover Passes for a week at a time! Check out your pass and backpack of maps and head for a state-managed recreation site!
“The Washington State Legislature and Governor created the Discover Pass in 2011 to offset steep reductions in general tax support for parks and other recreation lands and facilities operated by Washington State Parks, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
Today, when you buy the Discover Pass, you are helping to keep the state’s wonderful outdoor recreation sites open and accessible to the public.”

When using the library’s Discover Pass, you will be able to use it for one week per month. You cannot renew the Pass after your week is up.
Make sure you don’t lose it either – if you lose or damage it, it’s a $50 fine!
Show us all of the fun you’re having with the pass by tagging us on social media, as well as the Washington State Library and Washington State Parks in your photos – we can’t wait to see them!
