Hello everyone! As of this month we have added two new policies here at the library – a Privacy Policy and an SMS Advertising Service Messaging Terms & Conditions Policy.
What’s an SMS Advertising Service? You’ll learn more coming soon, but for now the short answer is that we are getting ready to offer text message updates on library closures, late starts, programs, new materials, etc. It’s opt-in so if you don’t want it, you won’t get it, but if you want to give it a try you’ll be able to sign-up soon! Keep in mind that once we begin using the service, it’ll probably take us a while to figure out how we run it – be prepared for it to change every so often or have an error or two while we learn how to use it!
The SMS Advertising Service Messaging Terms & Conditions (phew – long title!) is essentially an explanation of the service, how and when we’ll text you, and what your responsibilities are when you join the service. Our Privacy Policy on the other-hand, is similar, but is focused more broadly about why and how the library collects, stores, uses your data, and all of the other details that go with that. We highly encourage you to take a look at the new policies and if you have any questions, let us know!
In addition to the new policies, several of our older policies have finally made their way to our website including our Unattended and/or At Risk Child policy and our Teen Room Policy (and the Teen Room Rules are included in the policy section AND the Teen Services section). Don’t forget you can also find our Social Media and Photography Policies here as well.
Look for a Volunteer Policy on this page in the future, and don’t forget to check in on these policies from time to time – they’re here to make things clear for you, answer your questions, and help you feel confident in being at the library and interacting with us!
